What is it? |
|
Dry brushing utilizes a bristle body brush normally made up of cactus or boar bristles. Rhythmic, sweeping motions across the skin followed by the hand, always in the direction of the heart, comprised the technique. Special attention is paid to dry, calloused areas and cellulite prone areas. |
| Why dry brushing? |
- Brushing activates the pores in the skin to remove more waste materials and impurities more efficiently than soap and water.
- Brushing increases and stimulates blood circulation in all underlying organs and connective tissues.
-
Brushing stimulates hormone function - especially the oil producing glands.
- Brushing has a powerful rejuvenating influence on the nervous system as it stimulates the nerve endings to the skin.
- Brushing contributes to better muscle tone and better distribution of fat deposits within the tissue.
- Brushing encourages lymphatic drainage. The lymph system, unlike the circulatory system has no pump (as in the heart) to do its important job. Normally the everyday movement of the muscles and gravity keep the lymph moving and up to 2 lbs. of toxins are eliminated daily through the skin. By assisting this process we help the body combat a variety of problems from cellulite to arthritis and high blood pressure.
